It has been a busy few years for Indulge, not only have we been designing and developing our commercial clients’ websites we have also been donating our time to a variety of local charities.
You will, no doubt, have noticed from our portfolio that we have designed and built a new website - free of charge – to the Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA). Although we completed the site in February 2011 we continue to have a relationship with them by donating 2 hours a month in order to help maintain and evolve their website. We are also pleased to have designed a poster for the charity which now has its home in the Airport Café as of September 2012.
Indulge founders, Patrick and Russell, are both committed to local charities and are on the committees for The Vale Earth Fair Collective and The Young Business Group (YBG) respectively.
The Vale Earth Fair Collective is a charitable organisation that promotes music and arts in the Bailiwick. Its focus is on the annual Vale Earth Fair festival which had its inaugural event in 1976. The Collective provides community events that aim to raise funds and awareness for humanitarian causes including The Burma Campaign UK, The Free Tibet Campaign as well as locally-based charities that work to improve the lives of others less fortunate around the world.
Patrick’s involvement with the Collective is to maintain the website, including online ticket sales, managing and sending email broadcasts and, during the event itself, helping to set up, clear and steward.
The Young Business Group formed in 1961 “to provide a specific focus for the younger element of the business community to meet, discuss common issues and extend their business network”. Russell joined the Council, which is elected annually from the membership, in March 2012.
The group has over 150 members representing a wide variety of businesses on the Island and, through a variety of events, provides opportunities to network as well as socialise. These events include a monthly lunch or dinner club, an annual trip to Herm, a quiz and a biennial ball.
Beyond the social, YBG undertakes the Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business Trends Survey, organises the Bill Green Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit – awarded at the YBG Annual Dinner - and is one of the founder members of the Guernsey Enterprise Agency.
Indulge is pleased to donate a few hours a month to manage the group’s digital marketing which includes; maintaining their website, adding new gallery photos from events and promoting upcoming events by creating and sending emails and designing flyers.
Russell’s personal involvement includes attending monthly council meetings to plan dinner and lunch events, and discussing PR and marketing. He also helps to promote events and the magazine - Mercury - a non-profit publication which was launched in March 2012, and published by YBG (and hosted by Indulge). Russell also gets stuck in to the charity’s events – for example, he took part in the 2011 Christmas parade dressed as a donkey!
"We are very proud to contribute our time and skills to these causes and look forward to continuing our partnership with these and other charities in the future," says Russell.
With the festive season approaching, the Indulge team are waiting with baited breath to see what Russell has in store for this year’s parade; I am pleased to say that a little bird has told me exclusively that this year it will be a “wizard” costume! Please keep your eye on the blog for photos of this, and other charity events that the Indulge team are involved in, as well as further news of our work within the local community.
