Guernsey finance industry - take note! This could be your next big pivot...
With the advent of deepfakes and the potential for actors to license their voices and likenesses en masse to AI production firms, I've been mulling over the topic of image rights.
Within the next few years, users may well have the ability to create their own episodes of Friends, Game of Thrones or The Wire. The platforms that offer these services will almost certainly need to license the actors' likenesses from somewhere.
This kind of licensing is something that is going to become ENORMOUS very quickly, and I think the actors will do very well out of it.
Way back in 2012, Guernsey introduced the Bailiwick of Guernsey Image Rights legislation. These legislators must have had a time machine, because this legislation is perfect for the current climate.

The legislation enables someone to register their personality, including likeness, voice, signature, gestures, etc. - within the Guernsey Image Rights register, and license it out internationally.
Back then, it wasn't that successful... I'm not sure how many are actually using it, but it's safe to say it was ahead of its time.
Right now though, Guernsey has the potential to steal a march in this area... could image rights be Guernsey's next big thing?
And of course, we would be more than happy to help you build out your licensing platform...
