In our previous blog we advised of the new Google Penguin 3.0 algorithm update. This update was released by Google as a gradual role out which is still in progress, and is why there has been a series of ongoing link based discoveries since.
It has now been confirmed by Google, that they are planning to ditch the grand "one off" updates and shift to a more seamless continuos update.
So what does this mean for SEO?
This has not yet been confirmed by Google, however, this method will mean that all updates go live much faster, which may in turn effect the speed that links are reviewed. This could mean that there is no more hiding from Google and that websites will be under constant scrutiny. If this is the case, everyone should perform a link audit in the first instance to ensure that back link profiles are squeaky clean [which they should be anyway!]. This will provide a solid platform to continue working from.
As we are unsure of the pace that websites will be reviewed, it is hard to say whether the speed of penalties being issued or lifted would be faster or if guidelines to this process may change. We will continue to keep a close eye on any algorithmic changes, so watch this space!
