So, it has been a whole day since the launch of Google Instant and it is causing more than a bit of a stir it has to be said. Digital Marketing folk are crying out 'death of SEO' left right and center, whilst others are sweating over what will (or won't) happen to their Google AdWords accounts. It is all a bit reminiscent of the impending doom experienced before the turn of the century and the 'Millennium Bug'; no one knows what will happen but they are damn sure something might happen!
Anyway, let's for five short minutes take a deep breathe of fresh air and take a look at the websites who certainly aren't going to be upset with today. Because Google Instant is, well, instant, it means that as soon as you type a single character you get some results. So, with all this excitement, I thought it might be a laugh to see which sites come first for each letter of the alphabet to create something of a creme-de-la-creme of the web! So, hold on folks, it's going to be a bumpy ride:
A - Amazon (books and stuff)
B - Best Buy
C - Craigslist
D - Dictionary.com (always useful, wherever you live)
E - E-Bay
F - Facebook (obvious one)
G - Gmail (conflict of interests?)
H - Hotmail (the balance is redressed)
I - Ikea
J - Jet Blue
K - Kohls
L - Lowe's
M - Map Quest
N - Netflix
O - Orbitz
P - Pandora Radio
Q - Brainy Quote (I know, this one shocked me too)
R - R-Project (Nope, me neither)
S - Sears
T - Target
U - USPS (Don't think I will need the US postal service in my part of the world...Pah relevant results my rear)
V - Verizon
W - Weather.com
X - Xbox
Y - Yahoo
Z - Zillo (Real estate or something)
So, there you have it. A completely useless list of website names but who cares, I felt like doing it, now get back to work!
