My Tornado Formula
I made a formula that will draw a tornado in Wolfram Alpha. Here's the formula:
draw x = (0.02+0.5(t^3))cos(t*120), y = (0.02+0.5(t^3))sin(t*120), z=1.5t^0.8
And here's what it looks like when graphed in 3d:
Weirdly, the most difficult part of getting this to work was trying to get Wolfram Alpha to display the part of the formula that actually makes it look like a tornado. If you click on the link you can play around with some of the values and see what happens.
Tough Mudder
Some of the team are doing the Tough Mudder run, an extreme 12 mile mud run, so understandably it's being discussed quite a lot. You can find out more here.

Not only is this a great showcase of web technology, it's also got a great message.
Help Endangered Species
Leading on from Species In Pieces, it's worth thinking about the long-term impact of humans and what you can do to make the world a better place. If you think about it, in the long term most things that help humans ends up being worse for the planet, and eventually worse for humans too. By long term I'm talking about hundreds of years to hundreds of thousands of years. Helping protect the environment and endangered species is probably one of the best things you can do in your life. Cities Skylines
The answer to the recent string of disappointing city builder recently. This game features individually simulated citizens, curved roads, gigantic maps. You can even design your own custom structures to place in your city.
