Exciting news for Guernsey!
Experts from around the world will descend on the island in May as Google prepares to host its Education Summit, the first summit of its kind to be hosted in the British Isles.
The event, which will run from Friday 19th May to Sunday 21st May will welcome experts speaking on education and the role technology plays in the sector. The event is to be held at Les Beaucamps High School.
The summit will consist of sessions providing teachers with information on making use of Google's technology in their roles. In addition, there will be a number of other sessions exploring new ways to make use of technology in education and in organisational set up.
Deputy Andrea Dudley Owen from the Committee for Education, Sport and Culture has been speaking to the media on the news, stating that "this fantastic opportunity...will put us on the global map as a digitally competent jurisdiction. It won’t just be our teachers and lecturers who will benefit from this Google Education event, but our whole community."
It's certainly exciting news for the island, particularly for those invested in education, from the Code Club held by Indulge Media to teach primary school pupils how to code, to those involved in higher education on and around the island.
