We're super excited to announce that we've just finished delivering our third annual training session on Google Analytics with GTA University Centre!
This training session has once again resulted in a fantastic turn out with a really great group of people that were all eager to learn how Google Analytics could best benefit their business.
We have trained a wide variety of businesses from all industries over the last 3 years including finance, public relations, advertising, hospitality and architecture, many of which are at beginner and intermediate level, looking to improve their in-house marketing.
If you aren't overly familiar with Google Analytics, it's a free platform that allows you to collect and analyse data about traffic visiting your website, providing a greater level of understanding about the overall user journey in addition to how the user behaves once they are on your website. Our aim is to improve your knowledge of your online performance by providing you with a core understanding of how to find data and decide how to improve your marketing efforts.
So what will you get out of our training session, here's just a taster of what we offer;
How do I know if Google Analytics is already set up for my business?
A little trick is to check the website's page source to see if you can find tracking code for Google Analytics. Don't forget to review the entire page because sometimes it might be hiding!
Can I track all of our online marketing campaigns in Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is great for tracking how traffic arrived at your website, and you can gather even more data by linking to external accounts. Track your paid advertising by linking to Google AdWords, get further details on your website traffic by linking to Google Search console (previously know as Google Webmaster Tools), or link up to your email marketing platform to collate data on specific email marketing campaigns. During our training session we will teach you how to carry out linking. We will also touch on how you can track additional campaigns using the campaign URL builder.
How can I filter my data?
So you find that there's a whole heap of traffic visiting your website, but how do you know what's relevant to your business? One way to work out the quality traffic is to add a filter to exclude your businesses IP address, that way you won't be capturing any data from staff members that could be irrelevent or tip your data. Another filter that's pretty useful is one where you can filter out any bots, crawlers or "spammy" traffic. This is becoming even more of a problem for webmasters, so understanding how to reduce it's impact on your data can be beneficial.
A little reminder! Always make sure you create a new view before adding filters, you should never add filters to your master data becuase this is your raw data, it should remain unedited so that you have something to compare to.
How can I simplify monthly reporting?
Reporting dashboards could just be your new best friend! Set up dashboards to help collate data in one centralised location, from here you can export or you can schedule emails to be sent to your team on a regular basis. Within our training we run through how to set up dashboards, how to add and remove widgets and how to share this data with your team. We also provide a link to some pre-set dashboards that can help you monitor SEO, keyword analysis and link analysis.
So that's just a few key points that we cover within our Google Analytics training, but we also cover the following:
- Learn how to setup Google Analytics properly & easily
- Track purchases, contact submissions and searches
- Monitor the performance of your online marketing
- Understand your user and their needs
- Set up goal tracking and track conversions in real-time
- Learn how to show value in your online recommendations
