Here in the office, we believe that a strong work ethic is based on knowing when to relax. Having time to ourselves is important to keep a steady mind and a good way of breaking up the working day. Staff members have been known to come to dead ends with their work, only to give themselves a few minutes to unwind and attack the problem again with full exuberance. But how exactly do we relax, here at Indulge?
Teas and Coffees
Like any good British based company, the staff enjoys the occasional tea or coffee to keep their stockpiles of caffeine at a hearty flow. The nature of our beverage intake alters drastically from person to person with some enjoying the occasional peppermint tea, to others drinking 10+ cups of tea a day. We have a wide selection of teas consisting of mainly the Twinings brand. Here at Indulge, we don’t just enjoy tea; we make drinking it an art.
Paper Airplanes
This year Andy has acquired himself a plane-a-day paper airplane making set. This has caused a massive fury of planes being exchanged back and forth across the office. Some fly with seamless beauty where as others pretty much plummet the instant they’re thrown. Often, as is the case with these things, planes have been known to veer into people more often than not, which is to be expected with 10 of us in close proximity.
Youtubing
One of the freedoms of being part of a web development studio is unrestricted access to the Internet. Of course, naturally, there are policies which keep use of Internet professional, but members of staff have been known to stretch the confines of the rules by occasionally visiting recreational websites. One of these includes Youtube.
Picture yourself, a staff member hard at work, programming or illustrating away when you notices something in your peripheral vision. You look in that direction and spy your colleagues grouping around a particular screen. Curious, you approach them thinking, “Ah, no doubt my chums have come across some genius web based resolution which will further increase productivity”. As you join the amassment, you soon come to realize that your peers are in fact watching a video entitled ‘Funny Goats Yelling Like Humans LOL’.
Graze Box
Some of the staff here at Indulge has discovered the glory of the Graze Box. For those of you who don’t know what a Graze Box is, it is a boxed collection of healthy delicious snacks which are delivered weekly to your office or home. Once you’ve enjoyed your box, you can rate online whether you enjoyed or disliked the snacks.
Now although Graze boxes were originally seen as a luxury in the office, some staff members have become so accustomed to them that if ever the box is late or missing, it causes feelings of despair. Things like, “Where’s my Graze Box!” and “Why is this happening to me!” can be heard whilst the suffering man holds his head in disbelief or checks the mail box for a third time.
