A complete rebuild, at scale, for one of the world's most complex law firm websites.

This firm advises nine of the ten largest private equity firms, all of the top ten banks, and employs over 1,000 people across five jurisdictions. Their website had 3,500 pages and was becoming difficult to navigate. We redesigned and rebuilt it from the ground up.

86.5% fewer rage clicks. People can find what they need without fighting the interface

50% improvement in page load speed

25-point improvement in Google mobile PageSpeed score

For a firm advising the world's largest banks, security isn't a feature; it's the floor. Every part of the build was tested against the OWASP Top 10 because that's the standard this kind of work has to meet.

The Challenge

We've been this firm's main digital agency since 2018. They advise nine of the ten largest private equity firms, eight of the largest PE real estate firms, and all of the top ten banks. More than 300 lawyers and 700 staff across five jurisdictions.

In 2023, the brief was clear: completely redesign and rebuild the public-facing website. With over 3,500 pages, 700 PDFs, and nearly 300 vCards, the site had become unwieldy. Navigation was difficult. The site relied too heavily on PDFs. And for a firm that requires the highest levels of digital security, the platform needed to be robust in every sense.

The goal was to modernise the experience, improve accessibility and usability, and retain the firm's already dominant position in search.

Our Approach

We started with a full content audit. Every page, every PDF, every section analysed for performance and relevance. We benchmarked the site's search performance against competitors to understand where it was strong and where it was falling short.

These insights shaped a new content structure focused on surfacing high-value content and improving visibility in search. We mapped three key audiences: clients, prospects, and job seekers, and designed intuitive pathways for each.

Navigation was simplified. Page depth was reduced. Internal linking was improved so visitors could explore related content without hitting dead ends. We worked against WCAG AA accessibility standards throughout, improving colour contrast and accessibility across forms, links, buttons, and interface elements.

The build used Drupal to create a flexible, modular content system. Approval workflows were added where needed. We developed a powerful search function with filters to help users find what they needed quickly.

Security was non-negotiable. Secure coding guidelines were followed throughout, and the site was penetration tested against the OWASP Top 10. The front end was built for speed, accessibility, and responsiveness. Legacy URLs were redirected to protect the firm's SEO performance, and content was migrated smoothly to the new platform.

The Outcome

The numbers tell the story.

  • 50% improvement in page load speed. The site now performs the way a firm of this stature expects.

  • 25-point improvement in Google mobile PageSpeed score. Measurably faster on the devices people actually use.

  • 86.5% fewer rage clicks. That's user frustration, measured and eliminated. People can find what they need without fighting the interface.

The firm's dominant search position was preserved throughout the migration, and the new platform gives them a foundation that's easier to manage, scale, and secure.
